Ortofon OM-5E Elliptical Stylus Cartridge
If your tonearm has a standard headshell or a cartridge mount, then step up to optimal sound reproduction with OMs. A glance at any one of these cartridges will reveal Ortofon's answer to perfect tonearm matching. Ingeniously tucked into the top of the mounting bracket is a tiny, removable weight-plate. If your tonearm is a standard tonearm, just leave the weight-plate. If your tonearm is one of the low mass types, then simply remove the weight. The mass of your OM cartridge is now a mere 2.5g.

Styli types and interchangeability
Q What is the Ortofon OM 5E and how does it differ from the OM 5S?
It's a moving magnet cartridge in the same OM 5 body as the OM 5S, but fitted with an elliptical stylus instead of a spherical one, offering more detailed groove tracing.
Q Can it be adjusted for different tonearms?
Yes — it includes a removable weight-plate: keep it installed for standard tonearms, or remove it for low-mass tonearms, reducing the cartridge mass to 2.5 grams.
Q Can the stylus be upgraded later without replacing the whole cartridge?
Yes — it supports multiple replacement styli, so you can upgrade the sound over time by swapping just the stylus rather than buying a new cartridge body.
Q How is it mounted?
On a standard headshell or cartridge mount.
Q What is its output voltage, tracking force, and compliance?
The product page doesn't list these specifications — worth checking Ortofon's official spec sheet if those details matter for matching it to your tonearm and phono stage.
