The Sonos Beam Gen 2 is a compact smart soundbar that brings Dolby Atmos to a mid-size form factor, sitting a step up from the entry-level Ray in Sonos' lineup by adding spatial audio support alongside Dolby Digital, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS decoding. Five class-D amplifiers drive a center tweeter, four elliptical midwoofers, and three passive radiators to deliver sound that spreads wall to wall despite the compact cabinet. It connects via HDMI eARC for full Atmos passthrough, with optical audio available as a fallback for TVs without eARC support, and Trueplay tuning calibrates output to the room through the Sonos app. A far-field microphone array with beamforming and echo cancellation enables voice control, working alongside Speech Enhancement and Night Sound modes for clearer dialogue and quieter late-night viewing. Setup takes just minutes through the app, a TV remote, or voice command, and the system is built to expand later with a Sonos subwoofer and rear surround speakers for a fuller home theater. Available in black or white, it's the natural upgrade from the Ray for anyone who wants genuine Dolby Atmos sound without moving up to the larger Arc or Arc Ultra soundbars.
